getting started

I have not done anything like this before so it is learning experience for me.  I have been a photographer since college so about 40 years.  There is just something about pointing a camera.   Documenting your life and travels, a point of view, first car first love it is all there.  Memory may falter but the camera remembers.   I have been through film slides and now digital.  I started with a Nikormat and now a Canon  7D.  One thing remains though the camera does not take the picture I do.  Ansel Adams said I do not take a photograph I make it.  This to me means you have to see the result you want it may not be there in life or on the original image it is what should have or might have been there.  It is about seeing.  Making a photo is hard especially in landscape photography.  I was talking to a pro photographer in Sedona and told  her you have to be technically proficient, have the artistic eye, live nearby, and be luckey.  She agreed and felt you needed all four.  I hope you enjoy my  point of view and all comments are welcome
